Born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1960, Valerie Bertinelli broke through as an actress in her teens playing Barbara Cooper Royer on soap opera One Day at a Time.
After winning two Golden Globes for her work on the soap, Bertinelli side-stepped from acting into hosting TV cooking shows; her series Valerie’s Home Cooking has landed her two Emmys.
