New Jersey – Sandra Dee
Born Alexandra Zuck in Bayonne, New Jersey, Sandra Dee started out as a child model before moving into acting, most famously taking the title role in 1959’s Gidget.
Dee embodied a good girl stereotype (hence Sandy in Grease was modelled in part on her). Sadly, this masked a troubled personal life, including a long struggle with anorexia.
