She may have been immortalized as Kansas girl Dorothy, but legendary singer and actress Judy Garland was actually born in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
While 1939’s The Wizard of Oz remained her best known work, Garland had a long and fruitful career, marred by substance abuse that would accidentally end her life aged just 47.
