5. Cultural Influence and Beauty Standards

Society’s definition of what is considered “beautiful” is constantly changing.
One moment, being slim is the ideal, and the next moment, curvier bodies, often enhanced by procedures like BBLs (Brazilian Butt Lifts), are what’s trending.
It highlights how external beauty ideals are unstable and often influenced by media, culture, and trends so basing your self-worth on them can be exhausting and harmful.
But despite the ever changing beauty standards thanks to different cultures and personal preferences, curvy women are a pretty stable ideal across different cultures.
Take for instance the American and Latin American cultures, if you’re curvy, you’re fertile, feminine and genetically healthy.
The Middle Easterns see curvy women as beautiful and luxurious.
Even celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj have arguably proven that curves are desirable.
Think of the body positivity moment, rise of BBLs… all these have played a role or two to the increasing desire for curvier figures.
